Barreworks

Barreworks was the first Toronto studio to specialize in ballet barre-based fitness classes. Each class features techniques developed by local dancers and fitness professionals all dedication to creative and effective exercise plans. Using the ballet barre, resistance bands and weighted balls, Barreworks classes allow you to engage in an energizing combination of exercises that leaves you feeling stronger and fitter. Muscle sculpting, cardio training, core conditioning and deep stretching with an emphasis on posture and alignment. Whether you spent your childhood in and out of ballet shoes or a fort-timer to first position Barreworks will leave you feeling fitted fabulous. Also the chance to sweat in pretty dance inspired wrap tops, skirts and leotards doesn’t hurt!

The signature class is the Allegro Ballet Bootcamp which is an intense and dynamic class focusing on all elements of ballet. This fitness studio pushes you beyond just the barre through beautifully choreographed exercises that are fun to practice at home and in the studio. Each routine encourages students to dance with grace and balance in order to get the maximum toning and tightening from all the moves. These classes provide you with the complete and total ballet workout…no previous dance experience required.

I’ve been a fan of SoulCycle since it first opened in Toronto just under a year ago. SoulCycle improves your mind, body and soul through 45-minute indoor cycling classes comprised of high-intensity cardio, muscle-sculpting strength training, and rhythm-based choreography. The trainers at SoulCycle aim to give you more than just a workout, they want to give you a powerful mind-body experience. A SoulCycle class will leave you looking great, but feeling even better. Candlelit studios create a sense of community while inspirational mantras printed on the wall make you realize you can do anything you set your mind to.
